Ribble Valley gets national coverage

November 19, 2009

People from across the UK  waking up and switching on the television last Sunday morning, the 7th of February, had the pleasure of sharing their breakfast and Sunday papers with some wonderful images and stories from the Ribble Valley. Featured on BBC 1’s ‘Country Tracks,” Clitheroe, Mitton, Downham and Pendle Hill were all featured.

Television presenter Liz Bonnin took a film crew on tour of the Ribble Valley recently and her findings of our great area were recently shown for all to see on BBC1’s “Country Tracks.” Aired on Sunday the 7th February at 11am the show included visits to Clitheroe Castle to meet our official flag raiser over the keep as well as a brief  history of the Pendle Witches story.

Downham and it’s Post Office were also featured, the bulk of this segment was a re-showing of a documentary made in the late 1980’s about the Post Office, it’s owners and their attempts to diversify their business.

Like the beginning of the show at Formby Point the second half the show then went on something of geographical tangent when visits were also made to Todmorden and Hebdon Bridge. Locals will of course know that these destinations do not really fallunder the Ribble Valley banner. However regardless of this ,it’s great to see the area getting some much needed national attention and we can all hope that the feature will bring some added tourist interest and of course revenue for our beleaguered busineses.
